London 2012 Festival To Feature A Marvelous Architectural Feat

The London 2012 festival, which is considered to be one of the most prolific events of the next year, will also serve as a platform for a temporary one-bedroom apartment on top of London’s Southbank Centre, in the form of ‘A Room For London’. This incredible new architecture has been designed to provide the viewers and the occupants the feeling that of boat placed on top of the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the entire concept has been designed and developed by London studio David Kohn Architects and artist Fiona Banner. This entire project was initiated by Living Architecture and Artangel, an art organization, where in the contestants were required to come up with innovative concepts, that would enable travelers to spend a night on a visible site or building in London, as part of the London 2012 Festival.

Travelers and customers in general will now be able to book their stays for the ‘A Room For London’ from September 8th, 2011 onwards. Once the visitors check into the room, the room itself will raise a nautical flag, signaling the occupancy of the room. This marvelous concept is not only quite innovative, but will also offer the guests a grand and panoramic view of London from Big Ben to St Paul’s cathedral. Furthermore, ‘A Room For London’ will also be used as a platform for the art community, where in guest artists, writers and cultural commentators will be invited for a special stay at the location and will be encouraged to capture the spirit of the venue in the writings, drawings etc.
